I enjoyed this book because it's got all that I need to know about zbrush creation. It helped me to build up my own workflow which is a very good idea.Value
Aside from that, I happen to notice that some of these tutorials are based on old versions of zbrush, but I'm ok with it because I can find what I need easily.
The gallery is a very good idea! It helps me to explore these wonderful pieces of art!
I can't wait to get the volume 2 of this book - enjoy ! (Posted on 20/09/2012) - Simply Amazing Review by Aguinaldo

I was impressed when I started to read this book. It is much more than my expectation, good quality and very straightforward explanations. The illustrations are very well defined, it is worth the investment. This book corresponds directly with the power of ZBrush, the two go hand in hand. This book certainly will be the first in a series of others that I will buy (Posted on 28/05/2012)Value - Just like the cover, a chunky beauty Review by richellis66

This book has become a talking point in my office; anyone who drops by just has to thumb through it and invariably I get asked the question "Wow, can you do this kind of stuff?"Value
Yeah, I wish!
Nevertheless, reading through the steps of the amazing projects within this beauifully presented book, and the viewing sheer variety of what can be achieved with this amazing program, I feel inspired to plug in my ageing old grapics tablet and start once again to get tactile with my PC - watch this space...
This otherwise glorious product has to drop on star in the reviews I'm afraid, as the project files are downloads rather than a CD/DVD, and what is already one of my favourite books would have been made perfect with a hardback cover.
As an aside, I really cannot recommend Pixelogic as a software company highly enough; I bought a licensed version of ZBrush about five years ago, way back when it was version 2, and on version 4R3 I find it unbelievable that I am still getting free upgrades - you don't get that with Autodesk/Adobe, and it is so refreshing to feel valued as a customer. ZBrush Character Sculpting V.1 is a great book for everyone who wants to sculpt in ZBrush. It has something for the beginner and the professional alike.Value
The quality of the paper is great and the prints are as impressive. The only thing that put me down slightly is that there were two tutorials which were simliar to some published in ZBrush Essentials, which in itself is great too though, so not that much of a problem here.
ZBrush Character Sculpting has a good picture to text ratio. The amount of information given is great and it does not get boring by loosening up the pages with informative images.
A great read! Check it out! (Posted on 10/05/2012) - A very complete and thorough guide Review by Nuno

Impressive book, it is beautifully well made and very well structured. It will be handy for anyone that uses Zbrush, you will learn new workflows that you can easily adapt to your own. I would like to have it in hardcover if possible. For the price it is a bargain, thanks 3dtotal. (Posted on 08/05/2012)Value - Good collection of zbrush techniques Review by CC

I have been waiting for this book for a while now, and finally! It always surprise me when I learn how other artists use Zbrush, and I pretty much enjoy most of the tutorials they chose to put in this book, from classical sculpting, speed sculpt to cartoon style, to realistic look, as well as all the render setting and sculpting techniques clearly shown. Only exception is that I have own quite a few ebooks from 3dTotal, and some of them were already included in the book, so this is not entirely new to me. However, I still highly recommended this book, I mean you could easily check the preview section to see what sort of content you would get in the book before actually buying it on their website. Armor rhino alone is very enjoyable to read, it goes through the step-by-step creation in an instructional way, and very detail description. Also, the making of Warrior Mech, if you are a big fan of Mech robot, this is it! This is a book that has become one of my inspiration to work on digital sculpt, a great resources for new Zbrush techniques! (Posted on 04/05/2012)Value - Outstanding, can't wait for Vol 02! From start to finish this is a quality book, within it's glossy high finish pages you have just over 230 pages of every kind of style Z Brush can create for you.Value
There's hard surface techniques, set by step projects, classical sculpture, monsters, mercenaries, speed sculpts, a full gloriously beautiful gallery and even a cartoon Armadillo!
Since Z Brush came into the public's consciousness it's very quickly became the priority tool for budding artists both in the entertainment industries and freelancers alike, from it's inception the learning curve was quite steep... with the arsenal of tools viewable in Z Brush's interface you could be forgiven for feeling a little lost, however once you have a grip of this toolset the choice of what you can create is only limited by your own imagination.
That's where this book is so good, as there are so many outstanding artists within these pages you'll be spoilt for choice for inspiration. Z Brush has it's roots firmly set into the film & video game industry now and epic characters such as Marvel's Ironman, War Machine, The Incredible Hulk, and others like The Lord Of The Rings, & The Pirates of the Caribbean & of course many elements of Harry Potter! These characters would still have been possible of course without Z Brush, but wouldn't have looked anywhere near as fantastical, magical and realistic as they do with the help of this sculpting software.
One of the best step by step tutorials in this book is the cover featured Armoured Rhino by the multi-talented Jose Alves De Silva, this teaches you to combine hard surfacing techniques with organic sculpting and with this kind of knowledge under your belt you'd be hard stretched to find anything you couldn't create yourself with some practice.
Literally everything has been covered in this book, if you're a video game fan and want to create you favourite game character you can learn how to in this book, if you are a traditional sculptor making the switch from clay to digital everything is here to speed up your current workflow and best of all no mess, you can learn to create photorealistic monsters, humans, animals, clothing, boots, backpacks, guns and everything in-between.
Whether you are a novice looking to improve or a professional seeking inspiration this is the book for you, I can't wait for Vol 02! (Posted on 20/04/2012)
