An exceptional book with many practical cases. Very well edited book - the only bad thing I see is that it is not in Spanish, lol! A very good book to learn how to use Photoshop, with many useful tricks. (Posted on 03/06/2012)Value - Great resource! Review by Taranimator

The book itself is a piece of art. It is strong, thick, and the print quality is really excellent (better than every book I have). Inside, we discover an epured and well presented book that covers every major subjects or techniques of digital painting. All embellished of stunning paintings from professionnals to abord all of those aspects, step by step. I really have nothing to blame about this book.Value

This book goes beyond instructional, for which I might add it is excellent, it is consuming. Like a good novel, it provides one with hours of entertainment and when you set it down, what is found is that you carry the experience gained into your work and personal world, truly a book experience not to be missed. The make of this book is simply beautiful. The cover is thick and strong, and the full color pages are a pleasure to peruse through. On top of that, the contents of the book is top notch. Digital Painting Techniques contains an incredibly wide variety of tips and guidance to painting all sorts of subjects, yet remains in-depth and detailed in what it covers.Value
Also, if you are considering buying, I highly recommend 3dtotal as a company. Their staff provide wonderful customer support and were very helpful with a package that was delayed in shipping. Due to the delay they even sent a second one and let me keep both of them! Great products and great people. (Posted on 09/03/2011) - It's my favorite book. Review by Jo Ann
-
I have been drawing/painting for just a year and this book has been the most helpful and inspiring book in my collection. I refer to it every time I sit to paint something. It's always at my side, so much so that I might get a second copy just so that when this one wears out, I'll have a back-up. (Posted on 09/02/2011)Value - The quality of the tutorials' explanation is great Review by David Gonzalez

I recently purchase `Digital Painting Techniques` and here is what I think about it. In terms of content I love the structure of the book. I mean, it's very useful because I can go through any chapter to get that precise technique that I want to know. The quality of the tutorials' explanation is great as well as the quality of the images. The size of the book is very good because it lets the layout design put big pictures for reference. And the book binding and its flexibility is perfect because this lets you put your open book on the table without it closing.Value
(Posted on 25/08/2010) - I realized it was even better. Review by Jesús Alonso Abad
-
I recently bought your book `Digital Painting Techniques: Volume 1`. I liked the preview in the online shop, but as soon as I had it in my hands I realized it was even better. First, the size and print quality are superb (better than I expected). The book covers every aspect of digital painting, explained by industry people themselves in a clear and concise way. As they talk more from their own experience, every single tip is solid gold. I'm enjoying it a lot and have already taken advantage of many of the things that are written there :) The only negative thing I see about the book is that there's no Volume 2 yet ;)Value
(Posted on 25/08/2010) - An amazing, inspiring book for anyone who wants to create digital art. Review by Enric Batista
-
Digital Painting Techniques Vol. 1 is an amazing, inspiring book for anyone who wants to create digital art. It is devided in several chapters, separating various diciplines, which makes the book very readable. The first chapter only, about making custom brushes, is an outstanding help for artists who wish to save time while creating their work. Not to mention that some of the brushes can be downloaded, ready in no time for you to use and mimic the tutorials! I love the images in the book and the screenshots that allow you to clearly see what kind of photoshop presets the artists in the tutorials apply. The next step for me would have be owning a dvd in which I can see what kind of tecnique the artists use to actualy paint. However, I'm sure I'll be inspired and busy enough the next months perfecting my tecniques and learning from this outstanding guide to digital art. I recommend `Digital Painting Tecniques Vol 1` to anyone who wants to create digital art, specialy starterValue
(Posted on 25/08/2010) - a heck of a job! Review by Parmentier Arnaud
-
I've always loved digital painting; since I first discovered this technique my fascination for this particular art has never decreased. But there was a problem when I wanted to do it myself: how did they managed to do that? After a few attempts, lots of research and deceptions, I thought that digital painting wasn't for me after all. But then I came across this book, and decided to give it a try. Now that I have it, I can tell you that 3DTotal and the authors did a heck of a job! Everything is there for a complete beginner: brush settings, steps of creation, technique used, e-ve-ry-thing you need to start to paint when you know nothing, and I'm sure that even those who are intermediate level or experts can find useful tips in this book. Thank you so much for this awesome book, I'll recommend it to everyone in the future, as I'm already doing now.Value
