CONTENTS
Chapter 1 - European Knight – Medieval Armor
In the first chapter, Mike Lim takes us through the general blocking out of the figure, gradually building up the armor. He starts off with the pauldrons, progressing onto painting the chest and arm plates, and through to painting effective looking chain mail – while also showing us how to add texture to our paintings.
Chapter 2 - Greek - Roman Ancient World Armor, Spartans, Trojans
In the second chapter, Mike starts off with blocking in the main silhouette, and then filling out the face and the general shape of the armor. With all the basic shapes and colors down, he then goes into adding the final detail, such as the different armor plates, rivets, rings and so on.
Chapter 3 - Oriental Japanese/Samurai
In the final chapter, Mike Lim shows us how to build up the general figure using the same techniques that were used in the previous two chapters. Starting off by painting the helmet, he works his way down the figure this time.

(Posted on 16/08/2010) - heavy explanations ideal for showing the processes clearly Review by William Seddon

What I thought of the product: As an amateur artist I have had no formal training so found digital painting frustratingly hard. When I found this tutorial it looked to be just what I needed to help me get started. As I read through the tutorial and put what I had learned into practice I found it's picture heavy explanations ideal for showing the processes clearly in a way I could understand. Although these were very helpful I felt that a little bit more explanation of some of the techniques near the start of each section would be beneficial for starters like myself, although it probably wouldn't prove a problem for more experienced artists. Having said that, this didn't significantly impact on the usefulness of the tutorial. The range of different armours covered is also beneficial as this increases it usefulness and applicability to other different situations. Overall an extremely well put together tutorial which is clear and readily accessible.Value
