INTRODUCTION
The aim of this eBook is to provide both an efficient and methodical approach to creating characters that can encompass both organic and mechanical components and equip artists with the knowledge to learn techniques used by industry professionals. The series provides an in depth account of creating a character from the concept and base mesh stages through to the final detailing and high poly sculpt. It will as its subject adopt the theme of an alien humanoid in battle dress, partly clad in armor and carrying weapons. Each of the chapters will address a certain aspect of the design and show a step by step guide covering the principal techniques and methods used to sculpt the numerous components including the chest and body armor, anatomical detail, footwear and clothing along with various accessories and weaponry. Much of the high poly sculpting and anatomical refinement takes place in Zbrush, discussing the appropriate brushes and tools used but the author will also integrate 3dsMax into the pipeline as a way of preparing some of the base meshes and mechanical components. Although 3dsMax is used in conjunction with Zbrush the modeling techniques are equally applicable to most other 3d packages with the principal lessons proving universal.

It was great to see Cedric's workflow. As an experienced Zbrush user, I still came away learning a few new things from this. It's great how he stresses good clean meshes and makes it very easy to understand how to clean them up with they get messy. For the 3D artist at the beginner level, this might prove a little intimidating, but nothing that one couldn't understand with time. All in all, you can't go wrong with a $9 gem. Great book! Each technique is well explained (for intermediate to advanced users) and it covers about everything you need to know about character modeling. It would have been even better if it was a video! (Posted on 23/07/2012)Value - Great experience Review by angel cano

This is my first PDF tutorial and I have to say, I had my doubts about PDF tutorials, but actually its very clear and great for intermediate users of Zbrush. A MUST HAVE for Zbrush users. (Posted on 11/06/2012)Value - Illustrious Process Review by Big Egg

This tutorial provides an insight into a masterful production workflow. Outlining a mixture of hard surface and organic sculpting techniques provides a good understanding of how to produce quality work. While the book is Zbrush centric, many of the techniques can be adapted for use in other sculpting applications. A great read for the price. A great book for intermediate to advanced users. Not so friendly to new users to zbrush as it doesnt really show why or how to do certain brush strokes only shows the brush uses and the before and after. (Posted on 08/05/2012)Value - Great Work Review by Crom

Nicely organized tutorial. Required knowledge of Zbursh. This is great if you'be gone through 3dTOTAL. EAT3d And Pixologic learning materials and are looking for another angle on workflow. This is the method used in the industry today by big game studios. This would be a 5 star release had some video download link been included. Understand it's an EBOOK. But I don;t see links to any sourec files or videos to study. At any rate you won't find a better way to spend money on learning materials. for $9.99 you can't go wrong. (Posted on 29/11/2010)Value
