INTRODUCTION
ZBrush Character Creation is a 91-page comprehensive look at the techniques and tools used to sculpt a variety of physical characteristics specific to several character types. The lessons on offer by professional artist Rafael Ghencev, Rafael Grassetti and Joseph Harford, show how to transform a general base mesh into a definitive character class and not only explain the tools used to not only create the details and unique facial features, but also cover how to manipulate the overall proportions and head shapes.
The series utilises the skills of three different authors whose combined talents cover a multitude of methods that encompass sculpting approaches key to character modelling in ZBrush. Texturing techniques are also covered, alongside the brushes and tools used throughout the process and some general principals to consider before starting a design. Through exploring numerous states of the human condition we are given a comprehensive insight into the methodology behind creating believable characters in ZBrush and the associated tips and tricks used by the professionals.
This eBook also contains a free base mesh used and over three hours of downloadable movie files.

Conveniently the eBook was in PDF format. Downloading the pdf went without error, however downloading the supplementary content was awkward to say the least. Both IE7 and Safari struggled to get the files - in the end I was able to get them using Firefox. That being said, I am extremely pleased with the content of the eBook and the supplementary content too. Each section is explained in a step by step way and this helped me (a novice) quite a lot. The time-lapsed video is a great way to show just what is needed to produce you sculpted end results. The only thing lacking is a real-time narrated video explaining just what is required. I rate this eBook 4, just shy of being excellent without a real-time narrated video.Value

I highly recommend this to anyone looking for ZBrush's potential, or anyone already using ZBrush wishing to take their work further. It's not a step-by-step set of tutorials but a sort of in-depth look at an artist's style, which was very inspiring for me. Also, the download comes with a nice base mesh and over 3 hours of videos (downloadable from the pdf). As for the price, well worth it for the content received.Value

I LOVE ZBrush Character Creation! It is clear and quite complete in its description in the text. The downloadable movies really take it over the top as one of my favorite training pieces for ZBrush yet. I would like to see a few more specifics about brushes, usage of masks etc and it would be awesome if there were vids for all the articles. But that would just be icing. The focus (all heads) with the variety of treatments makes it even more instructive and gives a great ability to compare and contrast points.Value

This is a great tutorial. Detail and comes with time lapse video to show how it's done...however, the most interesting character, Frankinstein, has no video. what gives? If there is such a link please forward to me. It is still a good buy and good information for Zbrushers.Value

"This e-book is fantastic for everyone. It has a lot of information on it. So the idea to model over and over different faces is very interesting. It also has a lot of references explaining how to start and where to focus.Value
