The tips and workflows presented are of such quality that they may propagate into any type of project I will take on.
I am mainly a 3d artist, but what I've read in this book will certainly reinforce my 2d techniques (for anything from concept design, texture work, matte painting to post processing on a beauty render).
All 3d artists should consider this book for the tips you will get to improve/increase your skillset. As for 2d artists, this book and the other ones in the Digital Painting series are must buys!
