You'll find a tons of making of like that in the "tutorial" section of 3Dtotal... and for free!
This making of won't teach you anything you don't already know (unless you never opened the 3Dtotal homepage or you're too stupid to not figure things out by yourself (a lot of part in this making of will say "I changed this until it looks good", except the lighting part in which he discover that sun light is probably the light he is looking for for... sunlight.)
Not detailled at all, like all making of out there, don't expect a tutorial, this is NOT a tutorial just type "character" in the tutorial section and you'll see tons of articles like this making of... and for free.
Unlike the other reviews, this is not a tutorial.
This is not the best book you'll find on this subject... in fact most book I found about 3D character modeling were a little bit outdated but luckily way more detailled than this (also more expensive).
outdated because the polygon flow were not the best for animation or just move the character without any artifact (well, in this making of Andrew just moved some vertices to correct his model... exactly like the book I saw...)
Also, if you need this PDF to tells you the process of an image, how it's created, you might be not very bright.
(modeling > texturing > skinning/rigging > image composition > lighting etc etc... if you don't already know that there is something really wrong about you... in fact even if you do that wrong, you'll figure it out.)
and you also should reconcider what you call "great tips" when EVERYTHING is not detailled and sume with "until it looks good" tell me how helpful it was for you.
to sum up the description, his secrets are only "I do things until they looks good" (if you don't already do that, there is obviously something wrong with your modeling process). (Posted on 21/03/2014)
