Blaz Porenta has over 10 years of experience creating all manner of epic digital artworks for the likes of Aplibot's Legend of the Cryptids. He is currently a lead concept artist at Outfit7 and has worked on at least 10 game titles over the last few years. Having worked as a freelance artist, a lead concept artist and an art director for various gaming and advertising companies, Blaz is now in a fantastic position to answer students' questions and give helpful pointers throughout the workshop!
The Master scale, perspective and color in Photoshop workshop will lead students through the process of searching for inspiration, sketching rough ideas, and then developing those ideas into a final painting. Throughout the process the students will become familiar with values and colors and how they can improve the atmosphere of the painting. You will also learn how you can lead the viewer's eye around the image with use of composition and the relationships between different elements.
The workshop teaches Photoshop throughout, with the optional extra of using ArtRage towards the end. Students will be given different tasks to lead them through the painting process. You will become familiar with the Photoshop environment, using brushes, layers and other software features, as well as how to apply different artistic principles to visually strengthen their images and tell a story. Everything from creating custom brushes to sketching, using layers and then through several stages to the final painting will be covered - with tips and shortcuts thrown in along the way!
All students will benefit from learning a workflow akin to those used when working with a client as a digital artist. You will be given pointers to improve painting skills and storytelling. Students will become acquainted with most of the basics needed to bring a rough idea into the final painting stage and will also learn why values are so important, what colors tell us, what we can achieve with a strong composition and how to combine all of these to create a painting ready to be presented to a client.
